Well renowned within the world of chemistry, the University of Cambridge boasts a large number of strong individual groups covering a wide spectrum of science ranging from Molecular Biology to Geophysics.
Happy with the performance and reliability of previously bought Saffron gloveboxes, Dr Dominic Wright commissioned the design of a more bespoke unit; designed specifically to fit within his lab environment and has the ability to handle a variety of materials with differing containment requirements.
Dr Dominic Wright at the University of Cambridge said - "We are working on a variety of programs from highly reactive p-block precursors for materials synthesis to state-of-the-art titanium oxide anti-pollution films. Many of these materials are degraded, explosive in air, have the presence of moisture or are prone to contamination in air. We need glovebox systems we can trust and we have found the Saffron gloveboxes to be excellent for our work."
Dr Wright continues - "What I like about the Saffron designs are their simplicity and the largely manual control and operation. So, if something doesn't go according to plan, we can see what the problem is quickly and even alter it ourselves. This is in contrast to some of the more expensive systems available on the market. In addition, I have found the Saffron engineers and staff very helpful and responsive to my particular requirements and eager to help. I particularly recomend the Alpha box as an affordable, reliable and excellently engineered system."
Paul Marsh, Managing Director of Saffron Scientific Equipment Ltd added – “It is high praise indeed when receiving commissioned orders from Universities as well renowned as Cambridge. Our dedication to providing a combination of cost effective off the shelf and bespoke glovebox and containment systems is helping us to position ourselves within the marketplace as a quality UK manufacturer.”
